The First song in my playlist for Legend by Marie Lu is “Nobody Knows the Troubles I’ve Seen” sung by Louis Armstrong. This song fits the first couple pages of the book where Day’s describing the position he’s in. His mother thinks he is dead; he’s a wanted man and he’s hiding in an apartment building across from his house waiting to see if his family has the plague. He has some troubles and his family doesn’t know.
The second song in my playlist is “You’re the Best Around” by Joe Esposito. This song would be playing while June is looking back at how she free climbed 14 stories up a building before the military dragged her off the building with nets.
The third song in my playlist of songs is “Kiss Him goodbye” by Steam. In the story June falls in love with a boy she meets on the street; little did she know this was the ‘criminal’ she had been hunting down. She is forced to say goodbye after she had kissed him early that night. So when she finds out, the song Kiss Him Goodbye starts playing.
The fourth song in my playlist is “There’s Always Something There to Remind” Me by naked eyes. Both Day and June are constantly reminded of each other and can’t seem to forget one another. June Desperately tries to forget about Day because she keeps telling herself that’s hes a criminal and he killed her brother. Eventhough in the book June is trying to forget Day more than Day is trying to forget her, I know this song will still work.
The fifth song in my playlist is “The Grand Illusion” by STYX. In the book June finds out that the Republic is not telling everything to the people. They are keeping many secrets from the people. They think the plague is just a desease sweeping through the Republic, but really the republic is testing their bio-weapons on the people before releaseing these plagues on the colonies. So what they think is the plague is a ‘grand illusion’ created by the Republic.
The sixth song I have chosen for my playlist is “Everything You Know Is Wrong” by Weird Al Yancovic. June finds out that everything she knows about Day is wrong. He didn’t fail his trial, he got a perfect score. He didn’t kill Metias, Thomas did. He didn’t escape from the labor camps, he escaped from the laboratories. There’s no such thing as a labor camp. Everything she knew was wrong.
The seventh song in my playlist is Cantina Band recorded by Meco. This song fits the part in the book where Day and Tess walk into the bar and met Kiada. This song would the perfect the perfect overture for the seen where Day and Kiada were talking to each other.
The Eighth and final song in my playlist is "Who You'd Be Today" by Kenny Chesney. This song reminded me of the sorrow and the grief June felt for Metias after he was killed. In the song it says, "I can see your smile and "I can hear your laugh." This is exactly what June was experiencing.
