The first song in my playlist is called “food” by The Turtles. This song matches the scene in One Shot away when Diggy grabs a handful of fat around his navel because his been eating Taco Bell and other fattening foods. Both the song and the scene in the book fit together because they both mention food and getting fat. This is bad for Diggy because instead of gaining some weight he should be working out and eating healthy because now he will have to do something he won’t want to do starve himself. The tone in the song is mellow and it matches the scene because its food and when you’re eating food you’re calm and mellow.
The second song in my playlist is “Give me another chance” by Big Star this song matches the scene in the book when Coach Greco finds out Diggy’s weight. The two fit together because in the scene Coach Greco finds out Diggy’s weight and his disappointed in him because he is supposed to weigh 152 but he actually weighs 170, which is actually really bad because now he has to starve himself to get back to 152. Trevor could take over the weight class if he finds out what Diggy’s weight is actually. Coach Greco gives Diggy another chance to get his weight back to 152. The tone for this is hopeful because the Coach knows that Diggy get back to his weight.
The third song in my playlist is “Anything can happen” by Ellie Goulding. This song matches the scene in the book when Diggy and Trevor were scrimmaging and Trevor all of sudden hurts Diggy, Diggy cuts his lips; he bleeds all over the mats and Diggy needs stitches this was really unexpected and Diggy is now really fierce with Trevor. The two fit together because the person singing the lyrics sounded mad, also the type of language she was using in in the song and Diggy feels the same way for what Trevor did to him making him get stitches in his lip and Diggy is also mad because he has to wait a couple of days to start practicing again. That’s why I choose this song to match the scene in the book. The tone for this scene is fierce because Diggy won’t be able to practice for a couple of days and he is committed to wrestling and he hates that he has to miss practices and also because he had to get stiches on his lips.
The forth song in my playlist is “Gimme Shelter” by Rolling Stones. This song matches the scene in the book when Coach Greco tells the guys that they shouldn’t give up when they were in practice because all the guys sounded tired so he told them that to encourage them. He also stated that they shouldn’t give up because they are One Shot Away from achieving their dreams. The song and the scene in the book both go together well because in the song it mentions the person one shot away from meeting his dream and that is also very similar to the wrestlers they have one dream and their only one shot away from making it.The tone for this scene is joyful because they know they can make it.
The fifth song in my playlist is “What makes you beautiful” by One Direction. This song matches the scene when Diggy goes on a date with Jane the other guys on the wrestling team think she’s ugly because of her birthmark that is all over her face. But Diggy thinks she’s beautiful, that’s why they’re on a date. The two fit together because in the song it mentions how the girl doesn’t think she’s beautiful and the guy thinks she is and it is the same thing with Diggy and Jane, no one else thinks she is beautiful except for Diggy. Jane told Diggy that she knew that her birthmark is ugly but she didn’t have a choice if she wanted it or not. That’s why the song and the book both fit because they both mention some of the same things. The tone is delighted for this scene because she knows that someone likes her it makes her feel loved.
The sixth song in my playlist is “we are the champions” by Queen. The song matches the whole entire book. The song and the book are a good fit because the wrestlers dream is to become champions; that was their goals. The tone that most describes the song is victorious because the guys want and be champions.
The seventh song in my playlist is “I won’t give up” by Jason Mraz. This song matches the scene when they are at their meet, they are wrestling and they know that they shouldn’t give up so they can reach their goals on being champions. They know that they should be striving for the best. A tone that matches this scene is determination because they know that they can win. They just have to try and do their best.
The last song on my playlist is “Stronger than ever” by Christina Aguilera. The song matches the scene when Diggy and Trevor and all the guys go out to eat for Jimmy’s birthday dinner. And Jane kisses Diggy right in front of everyone unexpectedly no one knew they were hooking up. She got mad because he hadn’t told anyone about them. The song and the scene both fit together because Jane is trying to keep her cool and stay calm and not burst and get mad she’s staying strong. The tone for this scene is heartbroken because Jane didn’t want Diggy to keep this a secret from the team but Diggy was embarrassed to tell them because he knew that they would make fun of him. They thought she was ugly because of her birthmark.
