The first song in my playlist is “A thousand years,” by Christina Perri. This song matches the scene where Tina dies. Teddy is devastated and it’s a very sad part in the book. In one part in the book Teddy finds a vanilla scented hand lotion that belonged to Tina. "The fragrance would always remind him of his sister… His dead sister.” This song relates to this part in the book, because in the song it says “I have died everyday waiting for you.“ In the book Teddy and Tina don’t have the best relationship, but deep down inside Tina knows that Teddy loves her too. "Tina made her moody brother peanut-butter-and-banana sandwiches every night. They never talked about it. Tina would just leave the sandwiches on the counter and in the morning the food would be gone. Now Tina was gone. And the gangsta who had killed her would soon be gone too.” In this part in the book the example of how Tina made Teddy sandwiches every night even when he was all moody relates to the part in the song where it says, "I’ll love you for a thousand more." This relates to how Tina and Teddy felt about each other, because they were always there for each other no matter the situation.

The second song in my playlist is “If heaven was a mile away,” by Nas. This song matches the scene in the book where Teddy is about to kill Mumzy but then he doesn’t because he realizes that he isn’t looking for revenge. Teddys tone in this scene in the book is angry, because hes angry at Mumzy for killing Tina. In the song it says, “If heaven was a mile away would I pack up my bags and leave this world tonight or save it all for you." In the book Teddy takes Mumzy B on a car ride to kill him for killing his sister. When they get there Mumzy starts to feel a little suspicious on what they’re really there for. “Teddy then pointed the gun at Mumzys head. Teddy hesitated. “Just shoot, dude. End this hell. And may the lord above have mercy on my soul." Mumzy just wants teddy to kill him so that it ends everything, because he can't handle feeling guilty anymore.

The third song in my playlist is “ Sexy and I know it,” by LMFAO. This song matches the scene where Teddy is talking about how hot Officer Diaz is. ” Diaz was young, in her mid to late twenties, and pretty. She wore her hair tied back and her sweater tight. It fit her curves nicely. And women who took good care of their own bodies appreciated men who had hot bodies themselves. Teddy was built like a Greek god. With his bad boy attitude and washboard stomach, the girlies had been throwing themselves at him for years.” Teddy basically thinks he’s very attractive and in the song it keeps repeating “I’m sexy and I know it." That part in the song relates to how teddy feels about himself, because he thinks of himself as a Greek god.

The fourth song in my playlist is “Here comes the sun,” by the Beetles. At the end of the book the Anderson family adopts Micah. It was a very happy part in the book, because Teddy and Micah had gotten so close, but it was unexpected that they adopted him. “Don’t call me Mrs. A anymore from now on you call me mom.” The song is very joyous and it pretty much gives hope that everything will be okay by saying “Here comes the sun and it’s alright.” In the book Teddy and Micah saw a lot of harsh things, and this song relates to it by saying that it’ll be alright and in the end it was, because they adopted Micah. It’s a very happy part in the book and in the song.

The fifth song in my playlist is "Loose yourself," by Eminem. This song relates to the part in the book where Eevil and Teddy are about to get in a fight. " Eevils lips slowly curved into a fiendish grin. He smashed his head into Teddy's face a three inch gash opened over Teddys right eye, splattering blood. Suddenly, Eevil threw three punches to the body, sending Teddy staggering back, hunched over. The brawl was on." The lyrics of the song don't match the scene in the book but the tone of the song does. The tone of the song is upbeat and it makes it sound like somebody is about to get in a fight.

The sixth song in my playlist is " Right by my side," by Nicki Minaj. This song fits the part in the book where Mumzy 's girlfriend dies. Mumzy and Teddy headed up to Mumzys apartment, because Mumzy knew something might happen to his pregnant girlfriend. As they went up into the apartment they followed a trail of blood that led to the bathroom, and their lay his girlfriend who had been shot six times and twice in the belly. This song relates to this part in the book, because in the song it says " It all comes down to this I miss you more than this." " I'm not livin' life I'm not livin' right if you're not by my side." This part in the song relates to how much Mumzy will miss his girlfriend and how he can't live without her now that shes gone. The part in the song where it says " It all comes down to this" relates to how it just is coming down to how Mumzy shooting himself. " Mumzy turned the gun, jammed it into his mouth and pulled the trigger." Mumzy knew he wouldn't be able to handle living without his girlfriend and that's why he did what he did.

The seventh song in my playlist is " Memories," by David Guetta. This song fits the part in the book where Micah joins the Serpent Street gang. This song relates to this scene because in the song it says " All the crazy s**t I did tonight those will be the best memories. I just want to let it go for the night." That pretty much explains how Micah feels about all he had to do to get in the gang so that he could find out who killed Tina. Micah had to get jumped into the gang and that was a very painful experience. In the song it says " I just want to let it go for the night" , and that explains how Micah feels, because he wants to feel that what he's doing is right for Teddy.

The eighth song in my playlist is " Kinda outta' luck," by Lana del Rey. This song matches the part in the book where Teddy is frustrated by not knowing who Tinas killer is. " Teddy sat at his computer itching with frustration. He had poked into every corner of CLETS he could think to look in, but he still had no idea who Tinas killer was.” The tone of the song fits that part in the book, because the song is very loud and sad and that explains how teddy feels. The song is also very mysterious and almost angry in a way.
