A Playlist for Legend by The Cat in the Hat

by The Cat in the Hat

The first song in my playlist is “Loose Yourself” by Eminem. This song matches the scene in legend when day attacks the police headquarters because it expresses Day’s anger toward the republic and the city police. It also shows Day’s capacity for mischief and mayhem. I think this scene really opens the reader up to Day’s personality.

The second song on my playlist is “I don’t wanna stop” .I thought the song “I don’t wanna stop” by Ozzy Osbourne fits the scene where the character Day attacked the hospital. I thought it fit really well because it really expresses how Day felt at that time in the book. It shows how Day is so desperate for the plague cure and that he will injure anyone who gets in his way. I thought the scene and the song matched perfectly.

The third sound effect I chose is the “shadow lake” sound effect by Big Fish Games. This sound effect fits the scene in legend where Day finds the strange x on his family’s door. It fits the scene because there is some element of horror and also an element of mystery in that scene, same as the music. This sound effect really makes you feel how I think Day would have probably felt at that time.

The fourth song in my playlist is “Battle Scars” by Lupe Fiasco and Guy Sebastian. This song matches the scene in Legend where Thomas kills Day’s mother because that is also the scene where day gets captured by the republic. The song captures day’s pain and also the will he still has to fight. This was a very fast passed song and so was this part in the book and so I thought they would go well together.

The fifth song in my playlist is “Passage into Midnight” by Omar Akram. This song matches the scene in legend where Day and June first kiss. I thought this song matched best with this scene because the song is romantic and so is this scene, so I thought that they matched very well. This scene was also a very important part of the story.

The sixth song in my playlist is “Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. That best fits the scene where June finally figures out what government did to her family and she is pissed off because she can’t speak out unless she wants to suffer the same fate as the rest of her family, so she is intent on getting revenge from the inside. The writers tone in this scene is one of mischief, like she wants to get the character into trouble.

The seventh song in my playlist was the “Mission Impossible” theme song by Lalo Schifrin. I thought that this music fit the scene where day escapes from the republic. It fit this scene really well because it was really suspenseful and because you, as the reader, are anticipating what is to come.

The eighth song in my playlist is “I don’t want to miss a thing” by Mark Chesnutt. It fit the scene where Day and June were together in the box car really well because it really did a good job of setting the tone for where they were just sitting together with each other, letting time pass.
