A Playlist for Legend by Alex

The first song in my playlist is “Last Goodbye” by Tedashii. This song matches the scene in Legend when June’s brother, Metias, goes on a mission and won’t take her with him. June told him to be careful but he ends up dying that night. These to fit together because the song lyrics talk about losing someone in the army, and how they don’t want to be alone, much like June after Metias dies.





The second song in my playlist is “Gamble Everything for Love” by Ben Lee. This song matches several scenes in the book Legend. In one scene it matches because June and Day are kissing and they are “unknown enemies” meaning that they don’t know that they should hate each other yet. Later on in the book both Day and June catch themselves thinking about one another even though June sentenced Day to death. Also, they both risk their lives for each other. These two fit together because Day and June are literally gambling their lives for love, hence the title “Gamble Everything for Love”





The third song in my playlist is “Just like You” by Lecrae. This song matches the scene in Legend when June always wanted to go on missions with Metias but he rarely lets her because they are dangerous. These two fit together because in the song it says “I just wanna be like you” the song lyrics capture the scene well and shows how June wants to be like her brother.





The fourth song on my playlist is “what goes around comes around” by Justin Timberlake. This song matches a scene in the book Legend when Day and June first kiss and express more feelings for each other. Then again when they leave each other’s side but are later reunited and express more feelings toward each other. This song and this scene match because June leaves Day but then eventually comes back. And well, what goes around comes back around.





The fifth song in my playlist is “Beautiful Lies” by Mt. Eden. This song relates to a scene in the book when Day got shot and captured. While in captivity the world was a blur to Day, Which is represented by the soft parts in the song and the gun shots and loud voices are represented by the louder beats. These two things relate because the beat of the song is soothing but also upbeat in a way, just like Day when his vision is a blur and all he remembers hearing is gun shots and loud voices.( upbeat part)





The sixth song in my playlist is “A Light That Never Comes” by Linkin Park and Steve Aoki. This song’s lyrics describe the character Day in the book Legend this song fits this character because in the song it says “Nah you don’t know me.” And “You cannot catch me cannot hold me.” Much like day, for a very long time and after committing many crimes, no one could catch him.





The seventh song in my playlist is “I Can’t Stop” by Flux pavilion. This song relates to the book Legend when Day is breaking into the hospital and runs away with medicine. These two fit together because of the beat and the lyrics, “I can’t stop” represents Day making a break for it, and the beat represents how intense the scene is.





The eight song in my playlist is “Chasing” by Mt. Eden. This song relates to the character June because she’s calm but intense just like the song. These two fit together because the beat is intense but relaxes you like June.
