A Playlist for Twisted by Aubrey

The first song in my playlist is “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus. This song matches the scene in Twisted when the Miller family goes to the party and thought it was a casual party when it wasn’t. The two fit together because in the beginning of the song the lyrics say “I guess I never got the memo”, which fits with the situation.




The second song in my playlist is “Try Hard” by 5 Seconds of Summer. This song matches the scene in Twisted when Tyler wants his mom to buy him new clothes to make him look “hot”. This song fits with the book because the second verse of the song is about a boy changing who he is for a girl which is what Tyler is trying to do.




The third song in my playlist is “Story of My Life” by One Direction. This song matches the book Twisted because in the song, the first line says, “Written up in these walls are the stories that I can’t explain”, perfectly sums up the scene where Tyler is being accused of doing something he didn’t do.





The fourth song is my playlist is “Blown Away” by Carrie Underwood. The song matches the book Twisted when Tyler smashed his dad’s model train set with a bat. These two fit together because the song is about a tornado damaging a house, and the song and the scene both have damaging involved.





The fifth song in my playlist is “Case Closed” by Little Mix. This song matches the part in Twisted when Tyler is accused and he doesn’t know if he is going to be arrested for what he didn’t do. The two fit together because the chorus in the song matches the thoughts that Tyler has.





The sixth song in my playlist is “Catch My Breath” by Kelly Clarkson. This song sums up the book Twisted because it relates to Tyler’s story and also relates to his mood.





The seventh song in my playlist is “Country Strong” by Gwyneth Paltrow. This song matches the book Twisted because this song relates to Tyler’s confidence. “I might be fragile but there’s something that they can’t crush”. Tyler realizes how strong he is in the end of the book and this song fits perfectly.





The eighth song in my playlist is “Eyes Open” by Taylor Swift. This song matches a part in Twisted when the principle is making sure that Tyler isn’t getting in trouble. The two fit together because the song’s lyrics say “everybody’s waiting for you to break down, everybody’s watching to see the fallout”, which relates with Tyler when his principle is constantly checking on him.
